  1. Call to Order
  1. President’s Report – Case Spencer
  • Lelei will be filling in for John on Tuesday evenings at Redondo Union for the month of October. She will be paid based on a per workout basis. Kelley will pay Lelei’s USAA membership. Lelei will need to complete her background check for which Surfside will reimburse her.
  • Case, Elisa and Michelle will talk with John about the need for more coaches.
  • A new and improved shed is needed at Mira Costa. Kelley will measure so that it is similar with the other two sheds.
  • Case’s home is storing pop-up tents, team shirts & jackets and they need to be moved to the shed.
  • John would like a digital timer with long extension cord. Surfside will see if the school would like to share the expense (like they did when new lane lines were needed).
  • When Surfside’s financial situation improves, the board will consider purchasing a “Surfside” pop-up tent
  • John needs to confirm a date for a “holiday movie night” with the city of Manhattan Beach. We are looking at Friday, December 10th. Kelley has a movie projector and speaker.
  • Case is in the process of purchasing board insurance. He is confirming the details of what exactly is covered.
  1. Head Coach Issues – John York (absent)
  1. Vice President – Elisa Nye
  • Elisa & Kayo are meeting tomorrow to discuss the new logo.
  • We would like to have something with the new Surfside logo to give out to the swimmers who attend the holiday party
  • Elisa & Case will meet to discuss transitioning the duties of President to Elisa.
  • Tyler at Redondo Union has offered a workout time on Sunday mornings. Swimmers need to be out of the pool by 10:30am. It might be a good opportunity for the C group to have a workout opportunity not so late at night. Elisa will discuss this with John.
  1. Treasurer – Sandra Ota
  • The CPA is done with Surfside tax return (due October 15).
  • The CPA needs to still reconcile the issue with Surfside’s 2017 tax return.
  • Sandra will check Surfside’s PO Box every two weeks.
  1. Membership – Michelle Brill, Kelley Mayeda & Kayo Libiano (absent)
  • Kelley will pass on to Kayo and Elisa (as well as any other board members who want) the information on how to gain access to the USAA website to manage membership status for both athletes and non-athletes.
  • Kelley will meet with Kayo to start transition process for her to take over the membership coordinator role.
  • Kelley will meet with Sandra to review billing process for Surfside members.
  • Current Surfside members were billed on October 1st for the fourth quarter billing and will be invoiced in December for 2022 for annual USAA membership and 2022 annual Surfside membership fees.
  • Kelley is going to show Elisa how to send a group text to members for practice cancellations, etc.
  • The next tryouts will happen in early December.
