Surfside Board Meeting Minutes

November 1, 2021

Present:    Case Spencer, Elisa Nye, Sandra Ota, Michelle Brill, Kelley Mayeda, Kayo Libiano, Eileen Brown

Absent:     John York

 

  1. The Board approved the October 4, 2021, Meeting Minutes
  1. Banking/Financials:
  1. The Board approved changes to be made to Surfside’s Wells Fargo account. Michelle & Case need to be removed from the account and Elisa needs to be added to the account. Elisa also needs to get a debit card for the account.
  2. The Board reviewed the financial statement for 2020-2021 (June-May).
  3. Sandra will do a budget for December 2021 – May 2022 and will present it at the next Board Meeting.
  1. The 2020 tax return is ready to be signed. Surfside has an extension until February 2022, so Board Members may review it prior to signing.
  1. Coaching:
  1. Sean has joined the coaching staff for the Redondo workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  1. Lelei does not have the required certifications up to date. Kelley will renew her USA Swimming membership. Case will work with Lelei to get her background check and Athlete Protection Training completed as soon as possible.
  1. The Board approved holiday bonuses for the coaches.
  1. The Board approved the proposed coaches’ salaries for 2022.
  1. Elisa is going to work with John on a checklist for new coaches to receive when they join Surfside’s coaching staff.
  1. Board responsibilities & updates:
  1. The Board approved bringing on Paula Skorin as the Meet Coordinator. Elisa will confirm with Paula. She will join the Board in January 2022. Elisa will work with Drew to train Paula on the responsibilities of Meet Coordinator.
  1. The Board approved changing the monthly meetings to the second Thursday of the month at 6pm.
  1. Elisa has been doing cleanup on the Surfside website. Perhaps a future Board Member will be tech savvy and can take on website management responsibilities.  
  1. Case is purchasing board insurance.
  1. Case will follow-up with John to discuss the holiday party/annual meeting.
  1. Surfside has a new team logo. Kayo will get the digital file to the Swim Guy. Hopefully there will be enough time to get swim caps (with the new logo) to give out at the holiday party.
