  1. The Board approved the February 10, 2022 Meeting Minutes.
  1. Coaching:
  1. All coaches are current on their certification status.
  2. John is arranging a water safety & CPR certification class for the coaches.
  3. John is still on the lookout for assistant coach candidates. We will follow-up with him next month.
  4. Attendance taking doesn’t seem to be happening the Redondo workouts. John will follow up with the coaches.
  5. “Surfside Swim Team Athlete Character Expectation” is a new form that all current swimmers and parents will need to sign. It will also be given out at tryouts as part of the new member packet.
  6. Elisa will set up a time with John and Beth to review the onboarding document for new coaches.
  1. JG Prep class:
  1. There are nine paid participants.
  2. Kayo is going to create an “end of session survey,” so that we can get feedback for next year.
  1. Swim meet update:
  1. We have 27 swimmers & plenty of volunteers for tomorrow’s swim meet.
  2. John is creating a buddy system for the swimmers to help each other gets to their events on time.
  3. Masks are still required. Elisa will bring extras.
  4. Parents are not permitted on deck unless they are volunteering. John thinks it may change at meet time.
  5. Paula will get awards (ribbons) ready for John to hand out at next Wednesday’s practice.
  6. Elisa will bring the new team caps to give out to any swimmers who do not have one.
  7. Kayo will bring the team towels to sell for $15 to members who want one.
  1. Team gear:
  1. There is a 4–6-week turnaround for the new team gear. Hopefully it will be in stock by the next swim meet.
  2. Special polo shirts and jackets are being made just for the coaches. They will also get the team shirts and sweatshirts.
  1. RUHS facility update:
  1. Recently another team has had extra (unexpected) swimmers at their Redondo High workouts. They asked our coaches for some of our lanes to accommodate all of the extra swimmers. Our coaches agreed and we have been reimbursed for our unused lanes. Hopefully this won’t happen going forward, but Elisa has made it clear to Tyler that we need our lanes, and it isn’t appropriate for the other team to put our coaches on the spot. If it happens again, Elisa will speak directly with the other team.
  2. We have requested a change in the parking situation. The lot we have been using is extremely crowded and dangerous for our swimmers to walk through. Elisa has asked Tyler if we can go back to using the large lot off Diamond Street (as we did pre-Covid). Tyler is consulting with the appropriate supervisors and will get back to Elisa.
  1. Banking/Financials:
  1. Sandra is leaving the board in three months. We need to find someone with a finance background to join the board.
  2. Kayo and Sandra are going to Wells Fargo on Saturday so that Kayo can be added onto Surfside’s account.
  3. John still needs to give Elisa actual amounts for swim meet costs for annual budget. Elisa is going to ask Kathy (SOBA) at the meet tomorrow.
  4. Taxes are due in May. Sandra will be signing and sending them in before she leaves the board.
  5. Elisa is following up on getting insurance for the board members.
  1. Membership update:
    1. We welcomed eight new members at the tryout on March 4th.
    2. Currently we have 16 kids signed up for our next tryout on March 25th.
    3. We may do another tryout in May for older kids. (We are currently at capacity for our C group.)
    4. Kayo is creating a small flyer/business card that can be given out to prospective members.
    5. It was confirmed that all new members have signed Covid waiver paperwork for RUHS. Elisa is going to check to see if Manhattan Beach is still requiring Covid waivers for MCHS pool.
    6. Elisa is getting a Zoom account for Surfside. An annual subscription is $50-60.
