COVID-19 Protocols from 1/22/22
Dear Surfside Families,
As we are currently in the middle of an infectious peak of Covid-19, we are following the protocols and guidance of the LA County Health Department, in alignment with both the Redondo Beach Unified & Manhattan Beach School Districts and the City of Manhattan Beach. We would like to request that you and your swimmers please follow these protocols for the health and safety of our swimmers and coaches:
- Follow all pre-screening protocols listed on the top of the January ’22 Workout Schedule page before bringing your swimmer to workout.
- Face coverings are required to be worn by all coaches, swimmers, and parents when on deck, except when they are in the pool. This includes coming to and leaving from practice.
- If a swimmer has been directly exposed to someone who has tested positive, we would request that the swimmer waits 5 days before returning to practice to ensure that they have not contracted the virus. Please see the LA County Guidance for Quarantine & Close Contacts.
- If your swimmer or family member tests positive within 5 days of having been at the pool/practice (the median Covid-19 incubation period) you must notify us at [email protected] and [email protected] . We promise to keep your information confidential but will need to notify the families of any swimmers who may have been potentially exposed. We are following the LA County Guidance for Isolation and cannot have your swimmer return to practice for a minimum of 5 – 10 days depending on the circumstance, as outlined by the LA County Health Department in the link above.
If you do not follow these protocols, you are not only putting others at risk, but we could also lose our time at the school swimming facilities that we use. Please review the RUHS facility protocols below, which we have been asked to share with you all.
We recognize that this is a difficult time for everyone. We are hopeful that if we all remain vigilant that we will be able to continue holding practices throughout this period, benefiting both the physical and mental health of our swimmers.
Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate through these challenging times.
Sincerely,
The Surfside Board and Coaches
